How Noo works

Noo is built around the groups you already have: your family, your friends, your building, your club. Here’s what that looks like on your phone.

Circles, each with its colour

A circle is a small group you share with: Family, your oldest friends, the parents from Saturday football. You join one only when someone in it invites you.

Each circle has its own colour, and that colour marks everything only that circle can see. So you know at a glance who’ll read what you post. Before anything goes out, the screen names the circle and how many people are in it: "Only Family sees what you send · 4 people".

What you post in a circle is locked before it leaves your phone, and only the circle’s members have the key. Noo’s server stores it but can’t open it. The technical term is end-to-end encryption.

The server does know who’s in each circle, because it delivers the posts. It never knows what they say.

Home, in the order you pick

Home puts everything new from your circles and places in one list. You choose how it’s sorted, in Feed settings:

The rule is written at the top of Home. Your phone does the sorting, not Noo’s server, so nobody builds a profile of you. What you look at, what you tap and how long you stay never change the order. When you’ve seen everything new, Home tells you.

A Why? on every post

Tap Why? on a post and Noo tells you why it’s there and why it’s in that spot, starting with the rule you chose. Nobody can pay to get into your Home.

Experiences: a story of its own

Christmas, a trip, a move: an experience gathers one event’s photos and news in its own space inside a circle, away from the everyday chat. It sends at most one notification a day, with a number: "3 new from Christmas 2026".

Photos stay 7 days

Photos and videos in a circle stay on Noo’s server for 7 days. After that the post stays, with its text and a small preview, and the photo is gone from the server.

To keep one, tap Keep within those 7 days: it’s saved on your phone, still encrypted. You can also tap Save to Photos. Then it’s in your phone’s photos like any other, and wherever they’re backed up.

Places: your building, your club

A place is for the people around you: your building’s noticeboard, your club, the shops nearby. Organisers decide who joins, and a shop only shows up in a place when the organisers invite it.

Places work differently from circles: Noo’s server can read them. A building can have 200 members, people move in and out, and organisers need to moderate. Every screen in a place says so. For something private, use a circle.
